Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most about wire harness and cable assembly work at Pelentong: quotations, minimum order quantity, lead time, testing, certification and materials.

About Pelentong

What does Pelentong Electronic Industries make?

Pelentong Electronic Industries Sdn Bhd is a wire harness and cable assembly manufacturer in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, founded in 1990. We build to customer drawings for automotive, industrial and equipment makers: body and comfort harnesses, servo and encoder cables, M8/M12 sensor cables, D-sub and IDC ribbon assemblies, power leads and multicore cables. More than 400 different part numbers were delivered in the last 12 months.

Where is your factory, and how far is it from Singapore?

Our factory is at No. 36, Jalan Ekoperniagaan 2/6, Taman Ekoperniagaan, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, about 20 km from Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore. Customers in Singapore can come over for factory visits and first-article reviews, and deliveries go by road across the Causeway.

Do you supply customers in Singapore and overseas?

Yes. Most of our customers are in Malaysia, and we deliver regularly to customers in Singapore and have shipped to Australia. We quote in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) or US dollars (USD).

Quotations and orders

What do I need to send for a quotation?

Send the harness drawing, the bill of materials or the connector, terminal and wire part numbers, the estimated annual usage (EAU), and any special test, labelling or packing requirements to general@pelentong.com. We return a preliminary proposal within 4 to 5 working days.

Can you quote from a sample instead of a drawing?

Yes. Send a physical sample, or photos with the connector part numbers, and our engineers will draw the harness and confirm the drawing with you before quoting.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We have no fixed minimum order quantity. Our orders range from a few pieces to more than 100,000 pieces per order line, and in the last three years about a quarter of our order lines were for 50 pieces or fewer. For very small quantities, the minimum pack size of connectors or wire can affect the unit price, and we show this in the quotation.

Do you make prototypes and samples?

Yes. We build prototype and sample lots for approval before production, and for automotive programmes we follow APQP and submit PPAP. New parts are a routine part of our work: we have released more than 140 new part numbers into production so far in 2026.

Can I supply my own materials?

Yes. We can buy all the materials, build with connectors, terminals or wire that you supply (consigned materials), or combine the two.

Lead time and capacity

What is your production lead time?

For repeat production, about half of our order lines are scheduled for delivery within 4 weeks of the purchase order, and about 7 in 10 within 6 weeks. New parts take longer when connectors or wire must be ordered, because some have factory lead times of several weeks, so we confirm a delivery date with every order.

How much can you produce?

Our automatic cut, strip and crimp lines produce more than 300,000 terminal crimps per day, with more than 200 crimp applicators in-house and 9,600 sq ft of production floor on two levels. In the last 12 months we delivered about 3.8 million pieces.

Quality and certification

Which certifications do you hold?

Pelentong is certified to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 by Kiwa, with a scope of wire harness manufacturing. Our wiring harnesses are UL Recognized Components under UL File E529073, category ZPFW2 for the USA and ZPFW8 for Canada.

How do you test the harnesses?

Every terminal crimp is monitored online by crimp force analysis. Every finished harness passes a continuity test and is labelled, with the result saved to our database. Packing is computerized, with automatic label issue and a weight check for each carton.

Can you trace a harness back to its production?

Yes. Each tested harness carries a label linked to its test record, materials are received and issued by batch in our ERP system, and packing is recorded per carton, so a delivery can be traced back to its production and material lots.

Materials and capability

Which connector and wire brands do you work with?

We regularly build with Sumitomo, Yazaki, TE Connectivity (Tyco), JST, Molex, KET, Hirose, Phoenix Contact, WAGO, Weidmüller and Panduit components, and with wire and cable from Lapp (ÖLFLEX), Alpha Wire and other makers. We buy parts to your drawing, and use alternatives only with your approval.

What wire sizes and types can you process?

We process wire from AWG 36 to AWG 2 (0.013 mm² to 33.6 mm²) on automated lines. Common types include UL-style hook-up wire such as UL1007, UL1015, UL1061 and UL3385, JASO automotive wire (AVSS, AVSSF, AVF), multicore cable such as UL2464 and UL20276, H05V-K and H07V-K, Lapp ÖLFLEX cable, and PTFE and silicone high-temperature wire.

Which terminations and finishing do you offer?

Crimp, IDC, ferrule, solder and overmold terminations, plus heat-shrink tubing, sleeving, grommets, wire seals, inline fuses, labels and cable ties as the drawing requires.

Do you help with design and tooling?

Yes. We review drawings for manufacturability before quoting, and we design and make our own harness boards, crimp nests and test fixtures in-house using CAD, 3D printing and CNC machining.

Can I visit or audit your factory?

Yes. Customer visits and audits are welcome by appointment. Contact us at general@pelentong.com or +60 16-723 1594.
